The Transformative Power of Fly Fishing and Nature - Day Event

Dates: Saturday, October 8, 2022

Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Westover Farms Conference Center

On the 30th anniversary of the film A River Runs Through It, we invite you to a unique retreat at Westover Farms to explore this inspiring story about healing waters and the resilience of the human spirit. We will wade into this Holy Grail of fly fishing for reflection and renewal, and experience first-hand the restorative power of nature, through rich conversation, journaling, fishing, and hiking. Join us to explore lessons for navigating loss and change, and to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, others, and the world through fly fishing and nature.

All are welcome—anyone who loves nature and wants to learn more about this cherished story and the wisdom, healing, and hope that are offered by fly fishing and the great outdoors. Guides are available to first-time fly fishers.

The leaders of this retreat combine decades of writing and teaching about the higher calling of fly fishing. John Dietsch, life coach, writer, and fly fishing guide, supervised the fly fishing scenes in A River Runs Through It and authored the book, Graced by Waters: Personal Essays on the Transformative Power of Nature. Steve Ehrlich, lifelong angler, teacher, former dean at Washington University, and frequent fisher at Westover Farms, now leads classes and retreats on the literature and life lessons of fly fishing.
